Status of Project
Discussion have suggested short term steps as follows:
    1. Establish local area networks creating more intentional and effective linkage
between existing information holders/providers (chambers, historical societies,
etc.) at the local level to create a "no wrong door" information system for
        residents and businesses.
    2. Create plan for an Internet driven system of stand alone kiosks that could be
put in place in existing facilities and could allow sites to share information about
heritage resources and related events and activities.

Next Steps
    1. Present findings to potential key stakeholders.
    2. Design local area network program ("no wrong door") and find funding for same.
       (Working group discussion required)
    3. Create business plan for Internet driven kiosk system creation and on-going
        maintenance.

Project Funding
The Maine Department of Economic and Community Development has provided $25,000 to support creation of business plans for individual information centers and regional system.
