The Maine Woods Consortium is envisioned as a an open association of non-profits, businesses, and government agencies working together to bring prosperity to Maine's "rim" counties.
The Consortium will focus on three major areas:

Sustainable management of landscape resources.

Revitalization of towns and villages.

Alignment of small and moderate scale enterprises to meet emerging market opportunities.

The Coordinating Team is being guided in its planning by the newly forming Maine Woods Consortium Stakeholder Group that includes representatives of businesses, non-profits, and government agencies who share an interest in the future of people and place in the Maine Woods. Planning discussions have focused on new approaches to achieving alignment of conservation and development efforts across a large landscape, gaining efficiencies and impact through multi-sector collaboration, and finding new ways to raise and apply investment capital at the local level to achieve regional goals.
