Maine Woods Consortium PDF Print E-mail

Working together to bring prosperity to Maine's "rim" counties.

The Consortium is an open association of businesses, non-profits and government agencies focusing and coordinating work in three major program areas: Image courtesy of the Maine Office of Tourism

  • Sustainable management of landscape resources.
  • Revitalization of towns and villages.
  • Alignment of small and moderate scale enterprises to meet emerging market opportunities.

Click here to view the Maine Woods Consortium Vision Statement. The Vision Statement puts forward the major goals and strategies of the Maine Woods Consortium organized by program area.

The Maine Woods Consortium operates as a network using a distributed decision making model. This means that decisions are made by those closest to the action - workgroup members and their "stewards." A Coordinating Team provides oversight for all aspects of program development and implementation and makes decisions that affect multiple program areas.

Please contact any workgroup steward (see navigation bar to left) or member of the coordinating team if you want to be part of the process. Click here to view Coordinating Team members, meeting notes, documents, and meeting dates.

*Historical note: The Maine Woods Consortium grows out of the Maine Mountain Heritage Network. Many MMHN projects are now being carried forward by the Consortium.
